It's really hazy out..

what I'm reading right this minute..

what I had for lunch..

e/ corridor leading to my room(it's the first door on the left)

and the haze outside, see yonder !

The haze upon us yet again..
Went for lunch feeling hungry..
came back with a migraine
which I think was trigerred by the bloody haze..
fug!

Here's a couple of shots of today.. *points up*

In the news today, p!nk is rocking it out in switzerland, hilary duff turns 19, a malaysian mob boss was slashed (ironic!), malaysia has the region's highest obesity rate, and civil servants & coppers get a raise (woop-dee-do, u need money to have those many teabreaks y'know) ...NOT!

Ok back to work now,.. tgif!

My baby's unwell

Niki is sick and mommy & daddy is very worried,
Actually I think this is the first time I’ve seen her so weak,
Usually paracet doesn’t even effect her much but today, she looked so drowsy and unwell..

Tata, Amama and Ammu are very worried too..
Our darling has been under the weather since yesterday,
And she has a fever too right now,
She feels so not right, and I wish I can do something to make her feel better,
poor baby..

She’s trying her best to tell us what’s wrong and we’re trying our best to make her feel comfy .. I feel so hopeless right now.. and to top everything off I’m at work but my mind’s not here ..
I miss her, I want to cuddle up with her, and tell her that it's going to get better soon..

Like my handwriting?..Now squint to read

Ring the Alarm

No one knows this except Vicky but I get recurring dreams of indonesians migrant workers (this is not meant to be any form of racism or evs, just that in my dreams they happen to be indonesian workers!) breaking into the house thru the roof and robbing us, and whenever its just me & niki at home I get really nervous, eventho' Vicky told me numerous times that I'm just being paranoid, but the dreams still keep on coming!! can't help it!!
So the solution is Vicky has decided to rig our pad with state of the art hi-tech alarm system & they coming in to install today, so yay! hopefully that'll finally stop the dreams & my paranoia!

Niki's hairstory

our botak jane at 6 months (after the botak-ing)
1 month plus old
at 12 months
Posted by Picasa today

Locks-A-Lock Lock Our Goldilocks

Niki's hair is so long by now, by that I mean its longer than it was when we botak-ed her at 6 months which was more than a year ago! When she was born she was blessed with a full head of hair, I knew somehow when she was still in the womb that she'll have hair, that combined with the old wives' tale that if you suffer from indigestion constantly thru the first few months, your baby confirmed got a lot of hair one.. I weigh a healthy 52kg (heh!) now, but the first few months of my pregnancy it dwindled down to only 48kg (which is the ideal weight for supershort me!) coz of the constant throwing up & indigestion that made me swear off food! HHmmmm can i ever reach 48 again? I don't think so, maybe I should start my zone diet again, but arrgghh I love food too much, then how lar how????? Anyway I'm like really swaying from the topic, back to Niki's hair.
But before that did you know that when Niki first arrived via C-section, her eyes were open and looking around when the doctor put her on my chest for warmth, she didn't even cry, she was just lying on me and looking around and I remember thinking to myself wow this is my own little miracle and before I knew what was happening I was crying tears of joy, the feelings I can still remember until today, the feelings of love, warmth & joy all rolled into one. So back to the hair again..
It's quite soft lar, it's straight at the top and at the bottom it curls a bit, you know the kind they call digital perm at the salon, the kind that you pay 300 bucks for, well Niki's hair is like that.. no need to perm wei! Whe its wet it reaches the shoulder blades so quite long lar!
Vicky loves to wash our baby's hair, coz he's damn rajin and I'm not..plus he's a hair person, y'know immaculate coiffed hair at all times, that's my honey and so he is training our little one, whereas I just use a gook of wax and I'm done in less than 15 secs, that's how long I spend on my hair everyday. I call it effortless chic, (aka plain laziness). Rambling again and have truly lost the plot now!

Our Sunday evening!

so like I said we had 3 hours on our own yesterday..
and niki is safely at home..
so we were so excited, like bunnies..
After we dropped off Vicky's mom & her colleague we were left to contemplate where shall we spend our evening, and place must have yummy food, music & drinks..
and since we were at jalan sultan ismail area, we narrowed it down to HRC!
It was fab, we talked, we laughed, we shared food, we had wine, good music, it was perfect.
It's been ages since we get to catch up, and so we held hands, cuddled, snuggled, and just enjoyed each other's company, it was heavenly..

Sunday was Nasi Briyani Day!

Vicky shameless asked his mom to whip up a briyani and chicken sambal lunch on sunday, (after 4 years plus of marriage I'm still hopeless in the kitchen!) but honey bunny doesn't mind right? .... I hope not :-(
and so
all of us plodded over to Vicky's mom's place and stuffed our faces with food!
Afterwhich all of us slept the afternoon away,
Yeah, and so Saturday is slowly but surely repeating itself..
but have you noticed how nice it is to sleep with a full tummy? heeheehee..
Vicky's mom will be attending a shindig in Crown Princess later on in the evening,
We'll be driving her, and then we get to hang out for a bit while we wait, hhhmmmm..
3 hours whatever shall we do wherever shall we go :-) and niki is safe at home with
Ammu so teeheehee we were like a couple of schoolkids sneaking off for an evening of fun.. can't wait!!!!!

In the zone

Our Saturday was spent at home doing practically nuthin'
We just lazed on the living room carpet, the three of us.. looking up on the ceiling
All zoned out, and of course doing nuthing' like I said.. yeah we're a couple of really lazy
people and we managed to instill that into our not yet 2-year old as well.
Then, and then when it was six peeamm and the weather was nice and cool we went
outside for a little walk with Niki and blew bubbles..
Ate mini m&m's and chickadees (yeah they're back!!)
Let Niki run and up the street a bit she wanted to join the other bigger kids for a game
of footie but unforch she needs to another feet or so to her before she can,
Washed up and went for a nice dinner and came home with 6 new DVDs and watched
2 movies in a row, Niki watched with us and we finally bundled off to bed at 1.00am
Talking about DVDs omg!!! we've got so many unwatched movies u name it we have it ..
all the newest movies in town, Vicky is addicted to buying them, and omg!!! so much to watch
and sooooo little time!! But that night we watched Aishwarya Rai's Mistress of Spices (it was kinda lame but ok-lah) and yay The Devil Wears Prada, I love shallow movies about fashion
but Meryl Streep was wonderful as Miranda Priestley, and Anne Hathaway, after Brokeback Mountain we can only picture her boobies..whadawaste of talent, she still sweet and all that but I think she kinda graduated to adult roles but the transition wasn't that smooth..c'mon she was like Ms Princess Diaries and then suddenly we see her boobies plastered across our screen, it was just too much at too short a time, I mean I'm really not against arty farty films and all that but like I said she could have made the transition to a serious actor in a more smoother manner.
But still the movie was nice and much better than the book!
So that's our Saturday..
We didn't do any productive thru the day
but we had fun, loads of fun..

Had Dinner at Gem's

We had dinner with Vicky's mom, dad & sister at Gem's PJ.
They serve the most delicious ever Northern Indian food..
and they have nice copperware, really took a lot of willpower not to
quietly slip the water tankard in..c'mon I had a large handbag with me
..but no I didn't .. need to set an example for jr.
I had their Chicken set meal and Vicky had the briyani, yum and the aloo ghobi
& the other cream vege dish 000.. it was delicious!
Niki as usual had fun and scored herself a balloon .. yeah she practically get
spoiled everywhere she goes.. !
Post the pictures up once Vicky downloads them from his phone..
I left my phone in the office yesterday..*hhmmpphh*

A Gem On the Indian Ocean

We wanna go to the Maldives!
We haven’t been, and
We seriously though of going next year
With Niki of course
We usually make short trips nearby
For once we want to go on
A mutha-of-all-trips and totally splurge
On an international holiday

Till then here’s a few pix of the beauty
That surrounds this island paradise..

Can you feel it pulling you?
It’s saying come, come
Lie on my beach, enjoy the sol,
Enjoy the breeze and the
Waves lapping at your feet!

Niki is Quirky

Our Niki is quirky.
I think she got it from her parents.
Me & Vicky, we're both weird.
And we're really dorky,
and we like dorky stuffs,
and we have this dorky laugh to go together
There's this one habit that I noticed about Nix
There's like loads of places to sit in our home
but do you know where she loves it best..
the first step of our staircase up..
She loves sitting there,
she'll be there eating her snacks and stuff..
she'll be there talking to herself
she'll reserve me a seat next to her
if I wanted to hang with her..
and most of the pix at home
are taken there ..
So our Nix is also officially a dork like us!
See some things do run in the same
gene pool..

A short poem

As autumn rolls into winter
One can’t help but wonder
Of the beauty of nature
And our children’s future

Like the flowers that floats
In the gentle buoy of the wind
I close my eyes and dream
Of dreams with happiness within
Life is so beautiful
Life is so precious
Let's cherish every moment
And learn to live every second

Thai PM Ousted By A Military Coup

 Posted by Picasa

A Close Shave

Those that know us knows how much we love Thailand, and how often we visit, I mean whats there not to love, I for one love their clothes, shoes, handbags anything, they also got lots of vintage stuff which I love too. But of recent many knows about the political crisis that the country has been going thru, for those who have not heard, to put a long story short, the Thai people loves the King but truly dislike their PM, Thaksin Shinawatra.
So Vicky was there over the weekend and flew back yesterday morning, by the afternoon the armed forces was already on standby and early this morning, the country has declared a state of emergency as the army has taken over, it's a coup, their first in 15 years.
Here's what in the news today;
Thailand's PM Ousted in Military Coup
BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- In the dead of night and without firing a shot, Thailand's military overthrew popularly elected Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Tuesday amid mounting criticism that he had undermined democracy.
The sudden, well-orchestrated coup - the first in 15 years and a throwback to an unsettled era in Thailand - was likely to spark both enthusiasm and criticism at home and abroad. The military said it would soon return power to a democratic government but did not say when.
Striking when Thaksin was in New York at the U.N. General Assembly, army commander Gen. Sondhi Boonyaratkalin sent tanks and troops into the drizzly, nighttime streets of Bangkok. The military ringed Thaksin's offices, seized control of television stations and declared a provisional authority loyal to the king.
In his first public appearance since seizing power, Sondhi Wednesday asked for the public's support and declared the coup was necessary to end serious conflicts within Thai society that Thaksin had created.
Delivering a brief television address in front of giant portraits of Thailand's king and queen, Sondhi said the coup leaders had no intention of retaining power. He was flanked by chiefs of the three armed services and the head of the national police.
The coup leaders declared martial law, revoked the constitution and ordered all troops not to leave duty stations without permission from their commanders. The stock exchange was to be closed Wednesday, along with schools, banks and government offices.
Bangkok's normally bustling streets emptied out early Wednesday, from shopping stalls to red light districts, as Thais and tourists learned of the coup.
Across the capital, Thais who trickled out onto barren streets welcomed the surprise turn of events as a necessary climax to months of demands for Thaksin to resign amid allegations of corruption, electoral skullduggery and a worsening Muslim insurgency. Many people were surprised, but few in Bangkok seemed disappointed.
A few dozen people raced over to the prime minister's office to take pictures of tanks surrounding the area. "This is exciting. Someone had to do this. It's the right thing," said Somboon Sukheviriya, 45, software developer snapping pictures of the armored vehicles with his cell phone.
The U.S. State Department said it was uneasy about the military takeover and hopes political differences can be resolved through democratic principles. "We are monitoring the situation with concern," a statement said. "We continue to hope that the Thai people will resolve their political differences in accord with democratic principles and the rule of law."
Australia used stronger language, saying it was concerned to see democracy "destroyed."
"We deeply regret the fact that such a coup has taken place; obviously to see democracy destroyed in that way is a matter for grave concern to us," Foreign Minister Alexander Downer told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio by telephone from New York.
Thaksin recently alienated a segment of the military by claiming senior officers had tried to assassinate him in a failed bombing attempt. He also attempted to remove officers loyal to Sondhi from key positions.
Sondhi, who is known to be close to Thailand's revered constitutional monarch, will serve as acting prime minister, army spokesman Col. Akarat Chitroj said. Sondhi, well-regarded within the military, is a Muslim in this Buddhist-dominated nation.
Sondhi, 59, was selected last year to head the army partly because it was felt he could better deal with the Muslim insurgency in southern Thailand, where 1,700 people have been killed since 2004. Recently, Sondhi urged negotiations with the separatists in contrast to Thaksin's hard-fisted approach. Many analysts have said that with Thaksin in power, peace in the south was unlikely.
In New York, Thaksin declared a state of emergency in an audio statement via a government-owned TV station in Bangkok - a vain attempt to stave off the coup. He later canceled a scheduled address to the U.N. General Assembly.
A Foreign Ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said Thaksin tentatively planned to return to Thailand quickly. The official said he could not comment on the possibility of his being arrested if he returned.
Government spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee, who was with Thaksin, said the coup leaders "cannot succeed" and was confident they would fail "because democracy in Thailand has developed to some ... measure of maturity."
However, Sondhi's troops appeared to be in full control and clearly enjoyed the support of the monarch.
Former Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai, a member of the opposition Democrat Party, reflected an ambivalence that is likely to surface in coming days.
"As politicians, we do not support any kind of coup, but during the past five years the government of Thaksin created several conditions that forced the military to stage the coup. Thaksin has caused the crisis in the country," he told The Associated Press.
Thaksin, a telecommunications tycoon turned politician, handily won three general elections since coming to power in 2001 and garnered great support among the rural poor for his populist policies.
But he alienated the urban middle class, intellectuals and pro-democracy activists. They began mass street demonstrations late last year, charging Thaksin with abuse of power, corruption and emasculation of the country's democratic institutions, including what was once one of Asia's freest presses.
Some of Thaksin's critics wanted to jettison his policies promoting privatization, free trade agreements and CEO-style administration.
"I don't agree with the coup, but now that they've done it, I support it because Thaksin has refused to resign from his position," said Sasiprapha Chantawong, a university student. "Allowing Thaksin to carry on will ruin the country more than this. The reputation of the country may be somewhat damaged, but it's better than letting Thaksin stay in power."
He was among hundreds of people gathered at Government House taking photos and video of themselves with the tanks.
Initially, the coup went largely unnoticed in Thailand's popular tourist districts, where foreigners packed bars and cabarets oblivious to the activity about two miles away. But word raced among street vendors hawking T-shirts who packed up their carts quickly and started heading home.
As troops secured key sites in the capital unopposed, the coup leaders declared that a Council of Administrative Reform with King Bhumibol Adulyadej as head of state had seized power in Bangkok and nearby provinces without any resistance. They did not say what reforms the council would carry out.
Early Wednesday, the coup leaders announced that the appointment of the country's four regional army commanders to keep the peace and run civil administration in their respective areas outside Bangkok.
A senior army general, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, said the chiefs of the army, navy and air force met with the king Tuesday to discuss formation of an interim government.
Bhumibol, a 78-year-old constitutional monarch with limited powers, has used his prestige to pressure opposing parties to compromise during political crises. He is credited with helping keep Thailand more stable than many of its Southeast Asian neighbors.
He is the world's longest-serving monarch and celebrated his 60th year on the throne with lavish festivities in June that were attended by royalty from around the world.
The bloodless coup was the first overt military intervention in the Thai political scene since 1991, when Suchinda Kraprayoon, a military general, toppled a civilian government in a bloodless takeover. An attempt by Suchinda to keep power led to street demonstrations, and he was ousted in 1992.
Afterward, the military promised to remain in its barracks, in contrast to earlier decades when military coups were a staple of Thai politics.
As recently as March, Sondhi, the army chief and Tuesday's coup leader, sought to ease speculation the military might join the political fray during street demonstrations against Thaksin.
"The army will not get involved in the political conflict. Political troubles should be resolved by politicians," Sondhi said then. "Military coups are a thing of the past."
So I'm so happy Vicky managed to get back here safely.
And I hope King Bhumipol steps in, and makes the whole situation better, the people of Thailand has the highest respect for him, they love and rever him, one of the longest reigning monarch in this day and time.
So no matter how much I love Thailand, I guess Malaysia shall always be our home.

Just two days ago, we started teaching Niki how to drink from a cup, she does ok la considering, spillage was to be expected but surprisingly not much, which is a good thing. I was standing by with a rag, Vicky was in standby mode to catch the cup should it inadvertedly slip from her nimble hands.

Alor Star Now

I've been so super busy lately, that's why I haven't been posting regularly..
Coz I'm a blog addict, so if I have been laying off then that means I'm super duper busy @ work, which is drats!
Ah how I wish I was back in Alor Star again, being back in my kampung was super glorious..
did you know that roti canai there is only 60 cents, wan than mee is only RM1.80, unbelievable, yeah you better believe it.. that's Alor Star for you..
And being in the home I grew up brought back so much fond memories, it's typical kampung as in you wake up to the sound of chickens, etc..my dad & mom recently renovated and the place, so now there's q lot of space for them to do their thing..and they have even installed ana alarm system called Ang's Alarm, heeheehee I like the name, the reason for the alarm was several weeks ago our immediate neighbour's home was broken into by a couple of burglars, so my parents now are seriously paranoid, can't blame them really..and the police does their rounds in the neighbourhood too in their squad car.. I mean AS is still much more saver than KL can ever be, but shizz does happen too once in a while..
The best thing was Niki got to bond with her other set of grandparents, and my mom & dad really dotted on the cheeky tot.. so Niki was treated like a princess, tell me when is she not?
And Niki got to play with my parent's doggy too, my parents own a mini pincher named scooby, and u know what niki can immitate scooby's bark pretty well, she sounds like a pincher too.. and can call scooby by name..
it's nice bringing her back to my kampung..I hope to take her again soon, and vicky & i can indulge in our laksa lemak craving in wah tua guan, only RM3 and the tong sui ie. lo hon guo with gingko is only RM2 and is superb!!!!!!
And yeah if you remember blogging about Old Time Cafe, well it's actually Old Tune Cafe, a really nice place and the decor is really authentic, wonderful zen-like ambience on the way in, and the makan place is really comfy and truly nyonya chinese. Their specialty is duck, which we tried, which was heavenly you gotta taste it to really savour it.. yum, really succelent and the sauce omg!!!!!! Only RM14 for half a bird, and the best thing is the duck is prepared in-house, we found out when we took a tour of the 2nd floor and there's a patio where all the ducks were hung after being grilled (i think, that's the process). And the chop suey, yum! Truly yum! Only RM3 for a med bowl..can pengsan right the prices..
Ah how I miss the food, food here kinda suck!
Well I gotta go back to work now.. my boss in on the way back ..dang _ _
