The BIG Move Ep 2 Season 1

At long last can we at least do some cleaning to the house, which we did, yesterday,
The crew being myself, Vicky, Niki and Vicky's parents
And May's girls of course, I just pedicured I can't do all the cleaning myself!
Anyways after a whole lot of box moving and cleaning, we can at least see that our new home is coming into its own, our special custom made living room divider that spells NIKI, and it looks great!
Niki insisted that I cover her eyes as she ascended the staircase to her room, and as I uncovered her eyes, for the first time Niki saw her room and her reaction was all I expected it to be... her room's pink! Our darling girl was so happy and full of smiles, of couse she did ask why we didn't include the polka dots of which I replied that it's easier said and done and that us (her parents of course) are not yet done with her room and there's one more sticky surpise...
As for our room, we painted it white :) yes only white...
And the outdoor shower that hubby dearest designed, is absolutely spectacular! Love it, we will have many. many romantic nights there ;-x

Christmas is coming!

You could almost feel the excitement of Christmas in the air,
We're back to back and have yet to complete the most important task of all;
Christmas pressies shopping especially for the kids.
Yesterday was bazaar day Amcorp, it was fun, a bit of the same old, same old but fun all the same for Niki and I we had a great time just hanging out and spending time together.
It's another four days to Christmas!

Of Dolphins, Sealions and Books!

Sunday was Sunway Dolphin show day for Nik-Nik
She was so excited about the show, trust my daughter la to make her parents feel like we were neglecting her...which we did, but with a good reason as most of you know.
The drama minggu ini is, installed water pump, burst a pipe at the library loo, and trust my main con to not be able to find the root of the problem.
And while installing the pump, contractor stepped on a piece of my roof, which fell and injured my new carpet! Alright back to the subject as above *points up!*
We the parents did not watch the show and made it an evening for Niki to enjoy with her Tata and Amama, according to Niki the show's excellent, to which I'm glad after realizing that the tix were not cheap!
Niki also got a smooch from one of the dolphins, which was a very Kodak moment, will scan said pic and put it up here soon as I can!
On the way out Niki also made her dad buy her a pink coloured dolphin, which I advised her that technically the colour was incorrect and there's no such thing as a pink dolphin of which she said why not; just because I haven't seen one doesn't mean it doesn't exist.. ok I was stumped!
Apparently the sealions are superb mathematicians as well, I'm trying to figure that out I'm sure there's a trick to this.
As for my lack of reading material problem I solved that with a trip to MPH!
And as for the lack of shows to watch, I bought the complete season 1 of Castle and part 1 of the Vampire Diaries, which I have already watched two episodes, such a guilty pleasure, but I think I still like my True Blood better since it's edgier with less gore.
Ok back to mandur duties!

Small Blessings!

Yes, I am pro Team Edward .. and Joey, you're right I do have a thing for metrosexual men ;-)

Well, after two days of "squatting" at my MIL, I officially feel bad, coz my beloved in laws actually gave up their comfy bed for us. Seriously, where to find in laws like mine? Cannot find one!

Apart from that since I boxed up all my books, I am also seriously deprived of literature! ... and shoes!

And so yesterday I decided to give myself a treat and went and watched New Moon, yay Team Edward. Together with Ammu (whom I know is not a Twi-fan, but went along with me anyways to keep me company) with Niki (a semi Twi-fan or a daughter simply indulging her mother!)
Firstly since it was a PG-13 movie I felt like I was the oldest one there, the rest were in their tweens and kiddies with their mommies & daddies who looked seriously bored out of their minds! I for one am not afraid to admit that I am a Twihard fan. Throw caution to the wind, I say.. since when is movies genre about how old you are, and no matter what your digits are, one can never overlooked the fact that Taylor Lautner grew up real well in the past one year since Twilight. Now I understand what the fascination is all about, my niece Yanu is very into Taylor!

And usually I'm not much of a fan of valet parking but yesterday was an exception! It felt so relaxing not having to look for parking!

After shedding tears during the movie (some scenes were really good, a definitely a step up from the first installment!) I found that I needed a pick me up and it was in the form of "I just don't care about the pricetag!" buy @ MNG, as I swiped my credit card ala Rebecca Bloomwood, I found that retail therapy really does wonders, and as I walked out of MNG I could feel the bounce in my steps. Ok, perhaps I'm shallow, but like I said I'm throwing to the wind, and after the ordeal that I went through for the past few days, yesterday felt good!

To top off our afternoon, slurped sashimi with my partner in sashimi, Niki.

And as I write this, though I am still feeling hopelessly homeless and missing my former home, the cobalt blue top I have on today is keeping my spirits high!

BIG Move

Alright, we're officially in limbo at this point,
we've moved all our stuffs into storage and as of today have officially left our home of seven years.
Gonna live out of our suitcases for the next two weeks or so, so for the first night we'll be in vicky's parents home, and tomorrow we'll be moving into our apartment in sunway for a couple of days, and then to Alor Setar to my parents, before settling in mid of next week or so in our new home.
Currently our new home is still under some internal renovation before it's livable.
Though tiring it's actually quite exciting, since we're nomads! It's been sometime since we've lived from place to place.
But firstly Vicky and I would like to give a BIG thank you shout out to everyone that helped us with the BIG move, having lived in our old home for so many years we've actually acquired quite a lot of stuffs.
To my mum and dad who started off for us,
To Vicky's mum, dad and ammu for helping us in the final leg
THANK YOU for helping us when we needed it most!
Till then, I'll be reporting from the road ;-)

Neglected

I'm so sure my blog feels neglected, I know, bloggie, I have been neglecting you...with the age old reason "No Time" and I, myself too have been feeling rather neglected, as in it's been ages since my last massage and due time for a facial!

And, it's exactly 8 days until the BIG MOVE!

Excitement, dread, battles with dust bunnies all mixed into the potpurri!

An elise for an S40

My honey asked to have a discussion early this morning, and I was like arrgghhh ... what did i do now? thank god it was nothing of that sort, just that honey thinks it's better we keep the harrier and sell off my beloved S40, rather than vice-versa. do you know what's my fave feature in my S40? it's the electric seats, it's like a good 4" stiletto, with just a push of the button, ta da, i am taller! i am veritically challenged so i can't actually see the road ahead of me if i am in the harrier, that's why i drive as if my chest is stuck to the wheel, and it isn't a pretty sight!... it took a bit of convincing but alas I agreed due to economic reasons, but i am writing this down because i want to remember this... honey promised to get a cute sporty car ... ie an elise, with ahem! auto transmission for both of us if i agreed to drive the harrier. deep down i know he's right.

This season I want to focus on the things that mean the most. an attitude of gratitude, I will be posting my own thankful thoughts throughout the month in here. Thankfulness is contagious. So be joyful, be thankful

  • First of November : Niki turns 5, it’s a BIG event!

  • Twentieth of November : Vicky turns 31, another major event!

  • hmm. what else is on my list? oh yes, and the most majorest of ‘em all .. the twenty eighth of November : Moving out of Greenville and into Lakeside.

Boy, Girl Relationships

My gonna be 5 year old managed to shock me & her daddy the other day.

We were watching a Christian Slater movie, I for the life of me can't remember the title because the movie was so, a rotten apple, anyways the plot was Christian Slater proposed marriage to his girlfriend, but girlfriend mysteriously disappears, fast foward a year later, Christian has more or less moved on and was dating another girl, and so the new girl cooked dinner and they shared a kiss over dinner, when my daughter exclaimed that Christian shouldn't be doing that to another because already has a girlfriend and moreover has asked her to marry him. She was truly angry and said that once you ask someone to be your girlfriend you have to make sure you take care of that person.

Wow, that was something of a revelation to us, to tell you frankly I am quite shocked that at such a tender age, Niki has understood the dynamics of a monogamous relationship. Yes, we learn new things about our child everyday!

My Niki's gonna turn 5

It felt like just yesterday I got foot rubs from honey coz my foot was swollen and I just felt big. Fast forward 4 years and 11 months later Niki is on the verge of celebrating her fifth birthday and now knows how to request for a fairy or pixie themed cake.

My baby sits next to me and is licking a whole plateful of ketchup. While mommy is having assam laksa, yum!

How beautiful life is with you Niki, you've enriched and filled our hearts with so much love and joy... We love you momo!

The 1Kind Show 2night

Indi and Allan are back to enthrall us with their sketches and antics, Vicky and I are going this evening for their show, can't wait to laugh till our sides bursts. We'll update with photos and comments later :)
Now, I have tons of work to complete before the evening ... arrrgghhh Audits!
After show comments:
OMG, the duo that makes up Comedy Court is absolutely hilarious, and very Malaysian, and not to worry, about racial prejudice and such coz they make fun of ALL races! And not in a condencending way but rather a behavioral approach! We would love to watch them again, alas there were no photo op or autograph signing session for fans guess I just have to ambush them when I see them in Tesco or something!

Niki and I misses Daddy

The dynamic duo is having dinner and found time to take a pic for Daddy. Miss you, xoxoxoxo

I Await in Anticipation...

I'm currently and irrevocably addicted to True Blood. And made Vicky watch Season 1, he's 2 episodes away from the finale, and he likes it, well the graphic *ahem* scenes does help, y'know.

I'm so over Twilight, actually no, I just watched and re-read Twilight again in anticipation of New Moon that opens November 20th!

I just purchased Books 1 to 8 of the Sookie Stackhouse series! And I can't wait for them to arrive at my doorstep! omg, I'm so addicted to blood and gore, and it's not healthy, well at least I am holding a book and reading!

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

The beauty of living in Malaysia is the celebration of our diverse cultures, as most of you know, I already celebrate like 75% of the major festivals, the other 15% is Hari Raya, which is strictly reserved for me to indulge my guilty pleasures, ie. rendang, lemangs, mee bandung, super sweet air sirap and etc. We're heading out soon, and got a few open houses to attend :)
To all my muslim friends, I wish you a most wonderful Hari Raya, may you celebrate it with joy and in the company of all your loved ones.
Ok gotta go iron that baju kebaya!
Jet is just right next to me, note to self, must take pic of the hairball, he's 6 months old now and a real sweetheart although a bit too active for his own good.

Selamat Hari Raya, all and Happy Holidays!

We're Decorating

It's been 7 years-ish since we moved into KK.
And boy, do we love it here, so much so that we're moving from our current home to our new home also here in KK :)
Again, it comes with the daunting task of renovations, ID works, the works la .. but we're taking it all into stride because this is something we're really looking forward to, as for our current place we wish the next family that moves in loves it as much as we did and that the home will bring them as much joy as it has brought us.

Happy Independance Day!

Happy Merdeka to everyone.

As I grow older (ahem!) I've come to realized that the grass is as green here as it is anywhere else. Malaysia is not perfect but it's home. And in all things that's not absolutely perfect there's always room for improvement.

Love the earth, be a tree hugger, recycle

Appreciate our country, our people, our culture and most of all our differences, celebrate that, be happy, Happy Independance Day to everyone!

Got Stung

Today per usual of a sunday, i dedicate to cleaning everything that i can get my hands on... inclusive of ms niki who on sunday refuse baths, managed to grab her and threw into the tub full of sudsy water, that's the only way, since she refuses to shower! Guess who she got this from ... ok .. fine truth be told her dad and i are rather opposed to bathing on weekends ... errrrmmmm .. so i can't actually point fingers when it comes to this.
After drying her off, it was time to get jet for his bath, as I carried him and his bath towel i felt something stinging, and aarrrrghhh to my horror saw a mini centipede, within minutes my left arm was all reddish.. I panicked, I thought I was gonna passed out ... called hubby who has troubles of his own (stranded in pagor as I'm writing this) .. hubby told me calmly to drive to the doctor's and have it checked out.. I was like omg, what if I passed out as I drove, you'll never know I mean if you passed out. So despite my worries I told Niki to wear her mask, while I wore mine and drove out to the doctor's office. Thank God, it was still open, afterall it's Sunday!
Waited for my turn, it felt like a longer than usual wait, and as I stared at the length of my arm, I saw two red nodules! At least I'm already at the clinic .. if I passed out the nurses know who I am and would know who to contact but then again hubby is stranded in pagor... !
Finally saw the doctor who checked it and said that it doesn't look too serious, since the inflammation is rather contained, she prescribed two types of anti allergy and anti swelling meds for me, I happily popped them immediately. Got into the car and drove home.
Since I'm able to post this it's safe to say that my left arm should be alright though it still feels abit inflammed, but the redness and has gone down and the bite area looks much, much better.. I feel relieved, if I ever see another centipede, let's just say I won't hesitate squashing the bleeting thing with my boots!

Back Home

First things first,
I never knew I'd miss chilli sauce *wink*
And I am loving asam laksa even more..
The nearest option I got was the Singapore Laksa that I had at the Venetian.
Which was quite good *Thank God*
Otherwise I would've put up a b$*%h fit! :)
My mum had a great time, and I think that she's never in her life took on so much public transportation and truly did give her legs a good walkin'!
Per usual I decided to do the "when in rome do like the romans" path, so I got us Octopus cards and used it on the MTR/Busses/Trams you name it, we've travelled on it. Heck, you can even use it in 7E/Circle K! The only time I sat my buns down in a cab was when we were heading to the Macau ferry terminal, that also was due to our heavy than heck luggages filled to the brim with our finds!
In Macau much of the same thing, the hotel we stayed at was a stone's throw from the famed cobbled road of Senado Sq, so walking to the historical sites was within 10 - 20 minutes tops!
And Macau is really very much like Vegas!
Had heaps of summer fun in both Hong Kong and Macau!
And the bit of flesh between my thumb and index finger is injured due to excessive usage of chopsticks which is closely linked to how much of food we consumed, and yes, I brought home some holiday weight!

lui yan kai, mongkok

my mum and I were in the famed ladies market of mongkok, and found that most of the stuffs sold here are from thai-land, which is a cut off. Anyways, it was supremely packed and I thank god that I had a really good tea break before coming here.

And the tong lai char is certainly good.

Ok we're off to sogo and stanley today.

Lovelies, I have a new friend for you ..

I've been going on and on about a particular LV model which makes the perfect everyday bag, hubby finally caved in :) *evil grin* .. and so my closet of bags have a new buddy, meet my oh so lovely lv galliera pm ...

Isn't she lovely ...

Those four words

and it's not what you think..
today Niki and I hung out abit in the evening before I started tutoring her on her Ejaan.
Had a little heart to heart session.
Poor girl, apparently there's a boy in her class who's been playing hot and cold with her, and using those dreaded four words that strikes fear in a pre-schooler's heart.."I don't friend you!"
Niki was pretty close to tears when she related how this boy was treating her, one day they're friends and the next they're not and worse thing is he's trying to steal Niki's best friend, a certain Ms K. So she's asking me why can't he treat her as a friend everyday.
I was dumbfounded. How was I to explain to a gonna be 5 year old the mechanics of friendship and the dreaded topic of boys?
Well I copped out and told her I'll call her principal right that moment and basically have Ms Principal right this matter by having a one to one with this particular boy. Spoke to Ms Principal who solemnly told me thay she'll talk to this boy and the class teacher for good measure, to make sure he play nice.
Easy peasy, when the going gets tough, it's always the same whether you are in pre-school, or primary school or secondary school, you just tell the teacher and let them deal with it.
I on the other hand am relieved that I have evaded the dreaded boys subject for another day, that day will come I know, by then I hope that I'll be talking to a much older Nikita.

Not exactly romantic

But nonetheless very fulfilling, we had our anniversary early dinner (we skipped lunch so we can tuck in more, see) @ our favourite haunt Tony Roma's.
Niki came along for the ride, providing the correct amount of lighting if you get my drift.
As per usual, the ribs were magnificent, omg, I can still smell it on my fingers as I type.
I now know for sure that I'm a piglet!!

Our Seventh Anniversary

the not so newlyweds

Today the 7th of July marks our 7th wedding anniuversary!
Today is a work day and a school night, too!
But yay!
Happy 7th Anniversary, honey and *warning* sappy stuffs are going to be said;
"Honey, thank you for the most wonderful 7 years as your wife,
I can't think of anything I'd rather be,
My love, I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you;
And if there is a life after this, I hope to spend it with you too,
Cos I seriously don't think anyone else can live with me!
I love you, and forever will.."

RIP MJ

Exactly one week ago today, MJ passed on.
We were in Phuket and we got a text from Vicky's Dad which read, "MJ is dead, amma is very sad"
Yes my in laws, happening people who really loves music are one of those lucky ones whom attended MJ's one & only concert in KL many years ago, and they're huge fan of the man.
We couldn't believe it until we turned on BBC news, and realised that the news is indeed true.
Since then, much news has swirled around the fallen superstar, but I am keeping it real, MJ was a true icon, let the man rest in peace, everything else that was said or remain to be said, is not important, what is important was the legacy he left us, his songs, his music and his moves, there can never be another MJ.
May you remain the King Of Pop forever, and this is one of my favourite MJ song of all time .. it's classic MJ, let us remember him this way..

Sawadee-ka from Phuket

Vicky <3>
View from our chalet @ Thavorn

View from Sweet Home

The lovebirds; Lynnsay & Nishan (who happens to be great eating companions!)

Us in front of chalet #157

Just got back from a truly gastronomic experience while in Phuket, I really couldn't fathom how much food can be consumed by a group of four..but that's what we did ..
Found this gem of a place called Ab-Zab, under the Sweet Home Hotel; which served one of the most delicious Thai food ever, to prove it we ate there three days in a row!
The whole trip was utterly wonderful, as we cramped a lot of eating and shopping into our four days and four nights! Phuket's got this new mall called JungCeylon which is a must visit! *giggle* and it was Mid Year Sales and Robinson's was having sales! Oh the joy!! :)
Photos will be uploaded once I find the darn cable!
Till the next post, I'll be dreaming about Glass Noodles in Tom Yum Goong!
I know, I know, I'm a glutton.. feeling hungry now ... eeerrrkkk!
** Photos above from my phone, have yet to find my camera cable ... aiyo!
