Barney-ism

Barney The Purple Dinosaur

Niki is becoming more and more like a toddler/kid everyday, yesterday I had my first encounter with Barney, when we were in Alor Star came across this promo of RM10 for 3 pieces of kiddy fare, so we chose a Barney numbers one, a Teletubbies alphabet one and a CD of nursery rhymes for Niki.

Yesterday evening right after dinner Vicky put on the Barney's CD, and Niki enjoyed it so much that she was screaming in excitement before she settled in to watch the 2 hour CD, ok for the adult Barney's can be quite a challenge to seat thru but we did it for Niki! Now Niki can say Barney's and can count from 1 - 10, ahhh.. the wonders of kid-edutainement! Which means we have to start stocking up everything Barney's to ensure that our kid get some benefit out of it and when she attends kindy on 2008, she'll be ready with all her 1-2-3's and A-B-C's, if can spell and read even better. Ever noticed how much kid education has evolved since our days?

Post Christmas Shopping

Two days ago, we went over to Star Parade for Wah Tua Guan and found this wonderful shop selling toys, and went gila shopping for toys as presents for our brrod of nephews and nieces. All the toys were so wonderful & of great quality despite the Made in China tag, Niki was so into the golf set which came with its own golf bag but we didn't get her the set coz she already has one! So all of Niki's cuz ..Yanu, Leila, Zachary, Jaden, Darsha, Lavin and Shaarvin will get toys, I hope they enjoy it as much as we enjoyed buying them. And only is A.S will you get a toyshop that plays Thai-Pop, which was cool. Actually I rather like Thai pop songs!
And I spent last evening gift wrapping them, and they are now under our Tree and waiting for the kids to come get'em.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas was wonderful, we celebrated at my parents' home in Alor Star and Niki really enjoyed the whole "kampung" scene, which came complete with dogs, chickens and the super slow pace of life. We did a lot of eating, and I mean a lot! I can't even believe the amount I ate, 3 main meals and snacks in between, right now I am feeling kinda of overwhelmed by food and I think I'm gonna go lite for the next few days.
Because I am so so in love with the Laksa Lemak in Wah Tua Guan, I even tapau-ed it back so that I can reheat and eat it here once we arrive! And I'm so glad I did, the laksa was marvellous, and I actually can't wait for my next CNY visit! Crazy!
I forgot to bring my phone's adaptor (it's Thai) and I need a special one to make it chargeable in M'sia, so my phone was off the hook for the whole 5 days, which was nice, but I was unable to catch the cutie patootie's photo whilst there. My dad had 2 Christmas trees set up, Niki was constantly pestering him to on it ALL the time be it night or day, and the weather in Alor Star was "M'sian wintery" much like Bangkok with cool breeze during the day & the temperature dips a bit at night and the winds become stronger.
My mom and dad got to spend quality time with Niki which was most important.
Christmas dinner and the service at church was wonderful, Niki really enjoyed the service, and I realized that my little girl has grown up a bit on me, and as usualy bowled everyone with her adorable antics! And I too get to spend time with Niki without work getting in the way, and Niki was super manja..like Amma this Amma that, & kept me really busy :-)
Vicky and I got to a wonderful time too which involved a lot of hands holding & cuddling, and just relax and enjoy the day without having much to do except to get ready to go out for food :-x

I Heart Harry Potter

I'm a Potter fan! And Vicky is a Tolkien/LOTR fan. LOTR is so super complex and I really don't get it, whereas for Harry Potter, it just appeals to the kiddy in me!

I just discovered the name of her 7th and I hear final Potter installment.

The title's on the top, just in case you wanna know. Can't wait for it! Randon ain't it this post, I know, it must be the holiday mood!

Happy Clappy Slides

Balik Kampung

The great exodus will be most probably begin today, where all non-locals staying in the Klang Valley will flee the city & return to their kampungs. As will Vicky, Niki, my sister Daphne & I. If you are seeing us from the new Measat 3 sat, we'll be the silver dot travelling along the North-South H'way heading to Alor Setar. Since its Christmas and whole lot of merry making to be done during our short trip there chances are there won't be any blog updates when I'm back home.

And as usual I can't wait to go on a roadtrip with my honeys, I've been so super tired after Bangkok that I've been ignoring my baby, so gonna catch up on a whole lot of loving with Vicky. Right now have to tie up a lot of losse ends at work. Ciaos!

xoxo!

Food Blog : Betty's Kitchen

Yesterday it was only me and Niki for dinner, so I drove around for abit looking for some place new to try and lo and behold behind some rows of shoplots, we found a cute little eatery called Betty's Kitchen. We were I think greeted by Mr Betty and ushered to a place to sit, the place was simple enough and they had a simplistic menu to boot.

Either Asian or Western, like I said after gorging in Bangkok, simple food is the best and I ordered their Nyonya Laksa with Wintermelon Barley drink. I got Niki some Kiddy potato salad and we both settled into our food.

The Laksa was super delicious, and I promise to bring Vicky back there one of these days. It's so yummy that I think I wanna have it again.

Jamming in Bangkok

This fine dining restaurant where we had dinner on Sunday night at Khaosan Rd; the atmosphere was magical

Niki do lunch @ Chester's Grill

The next few photos are taken at Manna in Siam Paragon which serves authentic Thai food amidst the most beatiful setting ever

Siam Paragon

Siam Paragon is filled with designer names, Hermes, Armani, Gucci, Chanel.

MBK, where I did my shopping

the road towards MBK is filled with lorongs with more shops, finally the term shopper's paradise makes sense

the square at the novotel where we had our morning breakfast

the incredible amount of pastries and bread available

and the pastry chef makes the bread live

there's even a stir fry corner, where they stir fry veggies, noodles and anything else that you'd like to have for breakfast

our room really made us feel welcome

splash! the poolside

view from the lift at our floor, we were at the 10th

At the Suvarnabhumi Airport
which is spanking new

Bangkok was superb! We stayed at the Novotel Bangkok @ Siam Square, which was worth every cent we paid, coz the location was excellent, its a 5 min walk to Siam Paragon and MBK. Ate so much that I'm swearing off food until Christmas.

And the Thai hospitality is second to none, I didn't even have to press the lift button coz there's a Security personnel stationed at every lift entrance ! It was luxurious and very, very decadent, one word sums up the whole vacay.. Superb is rather apt. Had so much fun, already planning my next trip, teeheehee! Just did a small bit of shopping and the rest was loads and loads of much needed pampering and R & R.
I'll let our photos do the talking..

Selangor Rocks

The weekend was basiclytwo full days of just staying at home! And then on Monday, we finally left the house after hybernating in it for the past 2 days!
When it comes to public hols, there's just so many more than KL, I mean Selangor celebrates Nuzul Al-Quran, Thaipusam and the State Sultan's birthday (which was a yesterday), that means we have an extra of 3 days as compared to KL. Hence, Selangor Rocks!
So yesterday was a public holiday, love Monday PH, so nice woke up late then plodded to Sunway Pyramid so Niki can see some Christmas cheer, since the trees in malls are usually so much nicer, and huge, and full of lights. Had lunch at Delifrance, walked a bit, did a bit of accessory shopping for Vicky and Niki before heading to Coffee Bean for an IBM. Niki had soime too, and was on a bit of a caffeine hi! teeheehee, yeah we're horrid parents that feed their offspring coffee!
Then it's off to Summit USJ for somemore shopping, for the chipmunk lah not us.
Anyways, its 3 more days before all of us head off to Bangkok for a short break! Can't wait, MBK and Siam Paragon, here we come!

Baby Boom

Phew, just got back from DSH, we visited Karen & Dennis with the new baby, Baby Kaylie.
Who was asleep when we visited her, but like all babies, is cute, that it just melts you up inside.
Vicky was the man in charge to pick up a nice little caregift from mothercare and got her a real cute babytub, a 366-day storybook, a story each for Karen to read for everyday of the year and 6 pieces of those bodysuits that I loved so much (yonks ago when I used to dress Niki only in those)

Congrats to both the newbie mom&dad, you have a wonderful journey ahead!
