Lavin's Birthday Pix

The three of us attended Lavin's birthday yesterday at Mohan & Barbara's
There was pizza & cake, so we were pretty happy and Ammu get to eat here vegetarian pizza, just minutes earlier we phoned Pizza Hut to confirm that the Vegetarian Pizza is really vegetarian and got a affirmative confirmation from them, so Ammu, Amma and Papa happily chomped on Vegetarian Pizza.

Some pix of the birthday party. A bit dark as usual,

Lavin is 3

Today my nephew Lavinnesh turns 3!
A birthday shoutout to Lavinnesh Mohan Nair!

I Have A Major Ouchie

For many days now I’ve been suffering a toothache.
It’s horrid! I feel like just ripping the bloody molar out!
But I can’t coz it has a temporary feeling on right now and on this Friday I shall go in for a root canal with my dentist
Alas it will hurt like poo but I’ve gotta do this!
Right now it’s throbbing a bit, and I may have to swallow another painkiller! Bugger!
Afterwhich I'm gonna go get my teeth braced/straightened/whatever, that will also hurt like poo but a girl's gotta take care of her teeth!
Can just imagine the horrendous pain I need to go through! Until then better eat all the laksa coz eating will no longer be the carefree activity it is right now once the braces set in!

Home Sweet Home

My parents went back to Alor Star today,
Yesterday was a flurry of activities,
Breakfast, then came home
Got ready wanted to go over to the Curve but
had a change of heart as it's so darn far
and my boots can wait
Instead went over to Subang Parade to shop for my mom
Had tea then rushed home
Played a new puzzle book with Niki that I got in MPH
which so cute and crammed with baby pictures & of
babies taking their baths
The got ready to push off home at 6.30pm for a wedding that we're attending on behalf of Vicky's parents
Picked Ammu for her home went back to Sunway
Ate, drank and made merry
Then off we went, sent Ammu back before heading home ourselves
Tucked Niki in and both of us fell asleep soon after while Daddy
was watching the grossfest from Mel Gibson called Apocalypto

From me to you

To someone I love and care for
You are strong, and you will emerge stronger from this
Know that you have us, your family behind you every step of the way
But most importantly, do it for yourself and not for someone else, not for anyone else
Do not limit yourself
Instead look beyond the horizon
And realize the abundance of opportunities
That lies in your future
You're never alone
Because you have us
We are and always will be
uour family
Live right

Blog Addict and a Half!

I am a blog addict, I spend a huge part of my work day blogging or poring over blogs.
I need help I think, and the few days that I was unable to blog, I was experiencing blog withdrawing syndrome.
That is not hot!
And one more thing before I blog off, hehehehe
This is a bit on Niki
Niki is a mystery sometimes,
There’s this thing that she’s prone to doing
And I don’t know what triggers it.
And no matter much we tell her not to,
Lost count of all the times we tried
Talking to her about it
She still does it.
And she only aims it at one person
Is it karma?
I really don't know. I will of course ask her about it once she's talking properly.
Vicky is also asking that I go and get a her about 5 more sets of pjs and to throw out the old ones. I always thought the old ones are the comfy ones, if you even seen in my pjs, you'll definitely know what I'm yabbering about.

Trojan Horses

Remember I was complaining about how crappy my work computer (the same computer I blog from teeheehee) has been?
Well I found out yesterday after a long overdue scan that it was infected by not one but two Trojan Horses *&$%!*deleting the bloody files now, and doing a re-scan.
Hope the pc gets better soon *fingers crossed*

Bank Negara's Cafetaria

I had a meeting a Bank Negara one day last week, the venue was at Bank Negara's Cafetaria as stated in the fax. It's an informal discussion and hence the informal venue. For those that haven't been to the modest place they call the Cafetaria, here's an inside peek, I hope I don't get jailtime for this! So now we know where the taxpayer's money are going, at least one of it!

I for one is shocked! And I still can't get over the fact that they call it Cafetaria, other perks of the place at least 4 samsung flatscreen with bloomberg on, wi-fi, an outdoor al-fresco dining for nature lovers set admidst a landscaped and wonderfully manicured rock garden, Oh yeah, let's not forget they have servers too!

Sixteenth Day

The glum vegetarian
the very gleeful carnivore

barney in the jeep

my 2 year old is a diehard barney fan

It was the final send-off ceremony for Vicky’s GF yesterday, it was not as solemn as the funeral but everyone was there to make sure that everything is done and completed well. Lunch was catered by Ganesh Si Cindai Catering and let’s say my dad really enjoyed the lunch. Yeah my mom and dad are here until the weekend to attend the ceremony as well as settle some art business.

It was also very special for Vicky as he can at last be the carnivore he is, order of the day was mountain high banana leaf meals and lots and lots of mutton and chicken, Watch out Prosperity burger, you’re next!

So all is done and life resumes to normal, I’m relieved and can at last take a breather, Me, Vicky & Niki slept like a baby last night.

Satay Kajang

I was in Kajang on Tuesday, and it was my first time there.
Had the famous Satay Kajang for lunch.

The famous one being the one from Hj Sanuri, and all these time I thought it was the size that matters, actually the satay is quite big but in actual fact what makes it so super yummylicious is the sauce! It's a secret blend, quite like the Colonel's secret recipe, except this was old Hj Sanuri's recipe. Apparently according to a local Kajang-ian, all of Hj Sanuri's kids, all whom were sent overseas to take culinary courses to see if they can improve it further and Hj Sanuri's family actually monopoly the whole satay scene in Kajang. It's big business, the satay business.

You haven't tasted satay until you've eaten Hj Sanuri's Satay Kajang, The Original Satay Kajang
oooboy I'm such a glut

A Car Blog

Guys, my guy in particular loves cars..
This fascination can be clearly seen thru the tonnes and tonnes of car mags that grace our coffee table, of course I would preferred a better read to display but since its our home I have to compromise, so next to my monthly must reads of female, herworld, women's weekly, ok and hello. there's also hypertune (hypertune is really a girlie mag in disguise, the girls on the cover and within wear very little!)and motortrader.
So you know that my hub is driving a fiat 2.0V turbo coupe right now. The operative word here is right now, but of late he's been checking out the 318i series bmw, as well. I'm alright with whatever ride I'm in, as long as its fast and looks sleek. He's in a dilemma right now, on one hand the fiat is definitely a super stylo car, and it gets loads of attention wherever we take it, but the thing is its a coupe and the beemer has four doors, and I really do miss four doors, my jeep is also a two-door car, so now you understand our little pickle!

Stomach-flu

Though it was raining cats&dogs yesterday evening, we still drove out, because the past couple of days Niki has not been feeling very well. Took her to Dr Ding, who diagnosed Niki and said that she has contracted a mild case of stomach flu (rotavirus) and hence the loose stools. Vicky took a pic of her earlier stool to show the good doctor. He prescribed Colinix and the soluble Smeta, that's to be taken twice a day once in the morning and once in the evening. The one thing we're thankful for is that Niki doesn't seem to notice her condition and is ok and is up and about doing her regular stuffs and activities.
I hope our darling gets better soon *pray*

Plans for The Weekend

Thought of going for a spa treatment this weekend with Vicky at this Zoukspa @ The Summit. I hope its those legit types y’know coz it’ll be kinda gross if y’know its “those” type of spas. Why the Summit you ask, well its because Vicky needs to get the white polo from Causausa.
For those that don’t know yet, he too can contract shopaholic-nitis, me I’m just your regular garden variety shopaholic types with very little control when they are near clothes, bags, shoes or whatever that may catch their fancy. Vicky is much more controlled or so he says in comparison to me. But brands don’t matter to me, but it matters a whole lot to the metrosexual as above mentioned.

Rubberice

The gangly gang (Vicky and Niki) and the not-so gangly me went for dinner at a vegetarian restaurant in kk yesterday evening. Vicky is still on vegetarian and we decided to support him and eat vegetarian too. And Vicky has a name for vegetarian food, he calls it rubber rice coz everything is made from “fu-chuk” hence the texture is all rather rubbery-hence the name rubber rice.

The mutton was yummy but the other 2 dishes required lots of chewing, my mouth now is rather numb.

Can you see that I’m procrastinating? I’m drinking teh-peng while writing this, and there is a pile of work on my desk and what do I do? I blog. And turn a blind eye.

On other news an extension to the highway has opened up at my neighborhood and instead of driving through the normal exit way in kk, I now can just drive out of my taman and head straight into the highway, so it takes me only about 4 mins to get to Kesas now. And guess what, I made it early to work today came in 5 min before 9, which is a notable record since I usually make my appearance around 9.15. Don’t be like me, and I think my bosses’ has since given up on me!
Arrrgghh my boss just walked in, me thinks he's gonna be looking for me, ciaos!

Niki's Update

I realized that there’s been very little about Niki these past few posts and it’s all because I haven’t been doing my job of getting the munchkin’s photos. I’ll have some by later and get them up as soon as I can, of her currently at 2 years and 2 months.

Anyways, back to this post, Niki’s been a-ok though running a slight fever. Today she’s spending the day with her dad and I think they would be watching episodes after episodes of Barney today. I saw a sneak preview of the Wiggles yesterday, and as giddy as they may seem to be, I think Niki will really like the Wiggles.

Oh and Niki has officially made me her “scratcher” whenever she feels an itch (at any time of the day and even when at night!!) she’ll just say Amma, scratch and point my hand into the right direction. Yes in all her cuteness sometimes she can really be a little slavemaster.

Mmmmm, and she’s outgrowing some of her pj’s too, so may need to get some new ones. We were looking through some albums last night and she recognizes herself as a baby, and she’ll say Baby Nikita which is utterly adorable, she slept pretty early last night as I was watching the re-run of Golden Globes on TV (she asked for Barney but I told her that Barney was sleeping, terrible eh! And that she has to watch the Globes with me). She fell asleep halfway through, to be fair yesterday’s Globes was a tad boring.

One more bit whenever the Love You song comes on, she’ll come over and give you a great big hug!

Those Boots Are Made for Walking

I told Vicky about the boots I saw two weeks' ago in Element, and he said that I can get it, can't wait, to get it it's so, so uber-cool. I'm already thinking how to wear it..gonna team it with my tribal spirit dress or just wear it with my skinny jeans *imagination running wild*
... and feeling a little bit better, shopping therapy or at least dreaming about shopping really works!

Emotions within

I’ve been feeling a bit off of late, not sure why but I think my hormones is going a bit amok on me, Niki is also feeling a bit out of it too, she was running a slight fever last night , which I think is due to the high activity days that she’s been having of late. Well, it’ll all wind down by Thursday week, which is the sixteenth day of Vicky’s late gf’s passing. Until then it’s busy, busy, busy.

My parents are coming down next week too, and I just called them to confirm their visit. Taking some art pieces with them to handover to the gallery in Hartamas and to also attend the sixteenth day ceremony. Well, I can’t really write down all my emotions right now, bear with me. I'm a bit over-whelmed right now.
Actually I should be feeling on top of the world, I just got a promotion at work that I've been working to get, but sometimes y'know it ain't all about the money nor the glory. I seriously don't know, perhaps I'm feeling a bit worn down hence the gloom and doom feel of this post. Ah well, gotta perk up I can't let myself feel this way, yoga would help a lot right now..Om..
btw, where is that tibetan CD? Ah dang it's in my jeep and my jeep is not with me today!

Another handbag post

I recently bought a Coach signature handbag with its matching wallet, and if you asked Vicky he'll let you know just how much I love those two thingies. Today (sniff!) I discovered all might not be well in Coachland! Vicky promised me that he'll fix it, please help me fix it! WWAAAAAAHHHHHH! *cry*

Our Saturday

mizuo peck makes a hot Red Indian

akmenrah the pharoah, need to run a background check haven't heard of this one before

Vickyboy and I spent a really nice Saturday afternoon together, we caught Night at the Museum which was really silly but fun, we can't always be intellectually and visually brilliant all the time can we, and we can't be watching arty farty stuff all the time too, it gets really tiring reading Financialstuffs too btw, on the subject of movies, we caught Running with Scissors on dvd and let's say I'm no fan of indy films that trying to be noir and intellectually stimulating with deep seeded meanings!

After the movie we walked abit, shopped abit, and got something to bite before leaving to Vicky's mom's. It was raining, and it was so romantic just sitting in the car under the rain, sometimes the simplest things are the best, proven more times than once actually!

A Short rant

I can't even begin where to start on how bad connection is these days,
And it sucks BIG time
And I have such a hard time just posting, I'm losing patience man! And I'm a realllly patient person!
(oh yeah! it's Monday so .. 'nuff said!!!!)

Circle of Life

Past 2 days has been a flurry of activities, because of Vicky’s grandfather’s passing. The funeral was yesterday (he passed on the day before at dawn) and it was a really nice ceremony. A lot of relatives attended and I think it was a wonderful send-off.., a grand send-off. A band was playing all sorts of religious Hindu songs during the final ceremony, but the remarkable thing was all the band members were Chinese. There was even a set of police escorts all the way to Cheras accompanying the hearst and a convoy of cars carrying all the men-folk/pall bearers, it felt really VIP-ish. My mum-in-law remarked that her father looked very much like a maharaja, and that he would have loved the way the ceremony was arranged.

Which got me thinking, all of us at some point or another have often wondered about death and the after life. But more often than not, we usually pause to think just abit then totally shove it aside for something we consider more important or immediate; it is as if we will never go through it, that something so faraway and remote. When we were younger we always thought that we were invincible, hence the late night partying and all other kinds of vices. Now that most of us are no longer that young, we start to think but still not seriously enough, why is that?

Is it fear or is it that we think that we will not be dealing with death so soon.

For me it’s a bit of both. I can never say that I don’t fear it, and I really do not know what will happen today or tomorrow in fact none of us do, that is why it is important that we live in the present and not dwell too much in the past, Let bygones be bygones and live well. If there is any wrongdoing on our end it is important that we right it, but again I think it is important we live right. Religion and faith also play a really vital role, I have been straying for a while and I think it is due time I right myself in the eyes of the Lord. My marriage to Vicky has made me come to know his beliefs as well, and to respect it and Vicky does the same for me. For me, well there’s lots of catching up with Jesus to be done, and I better get cracking. And I hope that the Bible will see a lot more of me.

And right now it’s not only the two of us, we have to be thinking of Niki as well. We need to look out for her too, for her future. And there are things that need to be done and planned.

I sincerely pray that Vicky’s grandfather will find eternal peace, may he rest well for he had lived a full life. To remember Vicky’s late grandfather for only the good things and to forgive his shortcomings. And for Vicky’s family and especially his mum, I pray that they will learn to continue living and to cherish the memories that were and welcome in new ones, and to know that with God and with His Love and the love that bounds us, all things are possible and everything will be fine.

Mission Accomplished

A pat on the back for me, have managed to book us for a 3d/2n during the CNY break @ the mystical and fully booked island of Langkawi! Shall be renting a car to get around and makan places has all been picked out! Fatimah's, Sunset Restaurant, Spice Market @ the Pelangi here we come!

Bargain Hunters

Bazaar@ The Curve Ah Fatt's new Pad!

Me & Daphne were at IPC yesterday, and as most KL-lites know there's also a bazaar there at the courtyard. So we were wandering around and managed to get a few knick knacks but damn were the stuffs there expensive, it's supposed to be bazaar right? But everyone buys at list price and doesn't even bargain! I got a cute tee which is from thailand and a cute coin purse, yup I only bought 2 items, see as opposed to popular belief, I DO have restraint but OMG I saw the most beautiful pair of boots in Element, but I'm gonna wait for the pre-CNY sales!
The we meandered into Ikano and Daphne bought a new phone to replace her ancient Nokia, its a Samsung, canggih lor! So wanna be my cameraperson for my blog?

So we did the sisterly thing and hung out, so much fun, and then she drove me to her new apartment for a look-see, and what can I say except that Vicky & Niki got a new place to swim!

An Uphill Task

Booking for a short getaway to Langkawi for the CNY break is proving to be an ardous task, everywhere is either full, or too bloody expensive. Rooms in Casa Del Mar which is only so-so lar by KL standards starts from RM1k plus per room night and let's not even mention the Four Season or its like.
Me, I'm trying to get my family into a reasonably priced and I'm sure that'll get us a basic looking chalet, leave your pretensions at the door type. My only hope is I can play up my charms with the Reservation officer and get us upgraded! Keeping my fingers crossed!!
I called an old buddy in Langkawi and mentioned the Sunset Beach Resort but that too is full booked, it's chalet type, and the last Sabrina heard they don't even have a phone in the room, and their rate was in the region of RM400 plus! Crazy! For that price I can easily get a 5* right here!
Not many know this but I was once worked with the Pelangi Beach Resort Langkawi KL Sales office for about 3-4 years back in the early 90's, they were once in the RM250-300 range but now their lowest rates are around RM500, that'll get u a Superior Gardenview at most, and nope breakfast is not included .
So I'll get back to trying to find us a good 3d/2n package and hopefully my travel agent will have better luck. I'll keep you updated on how this turns out!

Photos from Raju's and Tropical Secret

ish! those two can really cause a cavity!

New Year @ The Kumar household

Firstly we were anticipating NYE, next thing you know it's the 4th day into the year.
We did a whole lot of eating during the New Year long weekend and even managed to visit Petaling St, which we haven't been in ages. Drank the "mata kuching" which price has shot up to RM1.20/cup and and they no longer serve it in the steel bowls but just paper cups. Still taste great tho'
We gluts also discovered 2 new makan places
Makan place#1 : Raju's in PJ, heavenly banana leaf rice and the staple roti, the unique thing is they do the live fried thing
Makan place#2 : Tropical Secret right here on our doorstep in KK, malaysian food served in frickin' big plates
On a more serious note, our prayers go out to;
1) everyone affected by the taiwan quake
2) everyone affected by the bombings in Bangkok, which killed 3 and injured another 38
3) the people on board the Indonesian plane that went missing and is still missing today and their families
..and for this New year's there's no new resolution but just the hope that the world can become a better place and in our own frontier, to be healthy, to eat healthy and be happy and to live and let live.

Happy New Year's!!

2007 is here, and I'm kinda missing 2006 which just flew by.
We ushered in 2007 quietly this year, just the 3 of us at home watching movies
and appreciating life for what it is and appreciating everything that we have.
We watched Blood Diamond and In Pursuit of Happyness, both movies and inspiring in their own unique way and made us thankful!
So to 2007, bless us, bless our friends and families too.
Take it away!
